Speakers For Schools

about us

Speakers for Schools is a not-for-profit, online network of voluntary speakers dedicated to giving back to schools through free, inspiring talks for students.

our mission

Speakers for Schools aims to provide state schools with access to a fantastic network of speakers who are willing to give inspirational talks to young people for free.

These speakers address the big subjects: technological, scientific, political, economic, historical, cultural, artistic, ecological and ethical. They are people who will be able to explain the latest developments in areas such as business, cosmology, biology, medicine, linguistics, history, engineering, inter alia.

Our speakers intend to open new perspectives, illuminate learning and increase young people's motivation and aspirations.

how it works

Our speakers have all kindly agreed to give at least one talk per annum at a state secondary school or college. There is no charge to the school.

Schools are asked to complete a simple on-line form, giving details about their school and what topic they would like a speaker to talk about. We then try and find a suitable speaker based on their expertise and availability. Most of our speakers have very full diaries and we are therefore arranging speaking events three to six months in advance in order to increase their availability.

Once a speaker has agreed to speak, we liaise with the school and send contact details and other relevant information to both. We will then allow the speaker and school to find a date, make the final arrangements and coordinate logistics. In order to ensure that arrangements go smoothly we send a document to both with a simple check list based on feedback and experiences of schools and speakers.
