23 June 2015
Yesterday, US representative to the United Kingdom Matthew Barzun spoke to around 100 Sixth form at Brentside High School about American involvement in global issues, their domestic policy and the British perception of American values. Everything from police brutality to ISIS was open for discussion in a frank and open session that engaged to cohort as both British subjects and world citizens.
In his first Speakers for Schools talk, the Ambassador spoke about his previous roles within Internet companies before telling the students of his first meeting with President Obama and how he was given a single piece of advice, “Listen.”
He went on to talk to the cohort about the role of news media in shaping the perceptions of American citizens before thanking them warmly for their candor.
We would like to thank Matthew Barzun and Brentside High School for making this an outstanding event.
