Speakers leaving their imprint on schools and students

This Term In numbers:

  • 50,000+ students reached in total

After our biggest Autumn Term, we reflect on the real impact of talks on students…see the highlights from teachers and students below!

‘I thought it was worth an email to impress what a uniquely positive experience the event was. So many of our students were blown away by the unique opportunities open to those at RADA. Edward was a fantastic speaker who made the prospect of study at such a prestigious institution realistic. Edward was generous with his ideas, expertise and time. Thank you to you all at Speakers for Schools!’

– Assistant Headteacher, Ralph Thoresby School in Leeds who hosted Edward Kemp, Director, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art

‘Another great speaker and presentation from Speakers for Schools. Thank you so much. These events make such a difference to our students.’

– Teacher, The Deanes School in Essex who hosted Richard Murrell, Lead Director, BBC News

‘I wantedalanmaloney to thank you and all the organisers of S4S for linking us with such an inspiring and supportive speaker in Alan Maloney.  I am absolutely delighted that Alan agreed to speak to every one of our 193 Year 11 pupils because I know that his message and practical advice has been really well received by our students and will make a significant difference to their futures: each and every one…Even in the small time he had with the students he made a big impression and I feel confident that he will have brought new directions and impetus to many.’

– Deputy Head-teacher, Harwich and Dovercourt High School who hosted Alan Maloney, Customer Experience Director, TrustFord

What students had to say…

‘I thought it was brilliant that someone with such high status comes around, actually interacts with schools and students, and even better he lets us ask him questions personally.’

Raj, Year 11, City and Islington College

‘It was refreshing to hear about someone who has managed to achieve so much in their life academically personally and professionally. I feel inspired to go and live my life to the fullest.’

Robyn, Year 12, Hewens College

‘A student who has been causing us concern went to the house office after the talk this morning. He asked if he could be placed in isolation for a day so that he could work hard and catch up on the work he has missed. When asked what brought on this sudden change in attitude, he said, ‘David’s talk. It’s made me think that I need to sort myself out and work hard.’

Year 11 Teacher, New College Nottingham

‘Students really enjoy guest speakers coming into school and sharing their experiences, particularly when they are experts in their industry.’

Teacher, Gordon’s School

‘The highlight of the talk was hearing about the speaker’s own journey and personal experiences. Students have commented that:

‘I feel incredibly inspired’, ‘That talk was so interesting; I feel I can achieve something great if I want to’.

Year 11 Teacher, Sydenham School
