Professor Anand Menon delves deep into the debate around Britain and the European Union at Wallingford School
4 November 2015
It’s the first week back from half term for many schools, and it has been a busy one: Carole Green of ITV, Ann Pickering of O2, Simon Hall of BBC are just some of the fantastic speakers giving talks in state schools this week.
Equally renowned European politics academic Professor Anand Menon from King’s College London visited Wallingford High School, Oxfordshire to talk about Britain and Europe and the possibility of the UK leaving the European Union. This was a great example of our ‘Deep Insights’ talks, a strand of talks perfect for subject-specific talks from leading figures on those issues.
Professor Anand works on the politics and policies of the European Union, British relations with the European Union, and the place of Europe in world politics. He is currently trying to make sense of the debate about British membership of the European Union, and whether this is a good thing or not.
This hot topic was discussed with students to discover their views and inspire their participation in the debate. The students had the opportunity to ask many questions about this topic which is so relevant to their futures.
Our thanks to Wallingford School and to Professor Menon for making this a great event for the students!
