Alex Bellos

Author & Mathematician

I am the author of three books, one about Brazil and two about mathematics. Futebol: The Brazilian Way of Life is a look at Brazil seen through the lense of football, and was written when I was the Guardian’s correspondent in South America. Alex’s Adventures in Numberland and Alex Through The Looking-Glass are maths books aimed at the general reader. I also blog about maths for the Guardian, work with the Science Museum and make radio documentaries on mathematical subjects.
I attended a state comprehensive and sixth form college in Southampton, before studying Mathematics and Philosophy at Oxford. My first job in journalism was for the Evening Argus in Brighton.
