Biography

Andy Rubin, MA MBA, is CEO of Pentland Brands plc; a UK based private, family owned brand management company operating in sports, outdoor and fashion. Andy is the third generation to lead the family business.

Pentland owns global brands Speedo, Canterbury, Berghaus, Ellesse and Mitre and is the global footwear licensee for Lacoste and Ted Baker. The Group is the majority shareholder in JD Sports Fashion plc, a European retailer in sports and fashion operating over 800 stores and numerous online businesses. Pentland employs 19,000 people and sells its products in over 190 countries.

Andy read Law at Trinity College, Cambridge University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Andy is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry. He is an Honorary Professor at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development at Lancaster University Management School and on their Advisory Board. He is on the Advisory Panel for Warwick Business School’s MSc in Marketing & Strategy and the Vice-Chancellor’s Advisory Board on Communications at the University of Cambridge. Andy is also a member of the European Advisory Board of Leaders Quest.

Andy is involved in several charities and is a Trustee of InKind Direct, the UK’s leading redistribution charity.
