Barry Matthews

Director of Legal Affairs and Third Party Sales, ITV

I trained and qualified in the Trade Law team at Hogan Lovells specialising in sport and media. I then joined Granada Television advising various departments on matters ranging from the Cheeky Girls first album to Arsenal’s commercial rights. Since then I have held various management roles the latest being Director of Legal Affairs and Third Party Sales with responsibility for all commercial Legal matters and our sales relationships with third parties (including Ulster TV, Scottish TV and UTV Ireland). I sit on the BCAP and Clearcast boards and I’m a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s Education Board Committee.

I’m married with 3 kids. I enjoy watching rugby (having retired 4 times from playing). I volunteer for a charity called Body & Soul and have set up a CSR work experience initiative called the Legal Social Mobility Partnership which aims to give bright kids from disadvantaged backgrounds a competitive edge when seeking to enter the legal profession.
