Branwen Jeffreys

Education Editor, BBC News

Branwen Jeffreys is a journalist and broadcaster.

Her current role is Education Editor for BBC News reporting on schools, universities and life long learning or training.

During her career Branwen has reported from around the UK and world for Radio 4, presented radio programmes and for a decade reported on health issues, from the politics of the NHS to the lastest medical research.

She is interested in innovative ways to tell stories, or allow others to tell their own, whether using data visualisation or equipping NHS volunteers in the ebola crisis in 2014 with the kit to record video/audio diaries in West Africa.

Branwen is also a governor of The Health Foundation – a charity trustee role for an organisation working to improve care for patients.

Branwen grew up in a large town and went to a local comprehensive.

Her own inspiration to go on learning new things comes from her Dad who always found her a good book on a rainy day, and her Mum who graduated from university for the first time in her retirement years.
