Chris Grace

Founder, Shakespeare Schools Festival

A broadcaster by profession, creative and entrepreneurial by nature , I was a co-founder of S4C/Channel 4 Wales and commissioned and produced Fireman Sam, SuperTed and the Animated Shakespeare series. From this evolved the Shakespeare Schools Festival, now the UK’s largest youth drama organisation with 1,200 schools performing abridged plays in 130 theatres. Watching workshops and appraising hundreds of school productions has made me appreciate the transformational impact of performance on young lives . Aside from increased confidence and heightened self esteem, young people feel cleverer for engaging with Shakespeare. The presentation would mix animation visuals with drama workshop techniques and be skewed to the relevant age group.
