Chief Digital Officer for Telefonica UK (O2)
David Plumb is the Chief Digital Officer for Telefonica UK (O2). As an active member of the main board executive team at O2 since 2013, he has a track record of launching new start-ups, growing businesses, P&Ls and winning large contacts. His main board responsibilities include leading growth in digital and wholesale products and services. Over this period he has delivered more than 25% CAGR growth and built a digital customer base in the tens of millions.
During his time leading growth for Telefonica UK (O2) he has also won the largest contract in the company’s history, the £1.5m smart metering contract, started new businesses like O2 Unify, O2 Drive and acquired new digital businesses like Weve.
David is also an experienced Non-Executive Director who serves on the board of major consumer businesses such as Tesco Mobile and innovative digital businesses such as giffgaff. Which gives him extensive knowledge of mass market consumer sales, the launching of new digital services and how to build scaled businesses for millennial segments.
David is someone who generates disruptive ideas, and translates them into transformation, business development and growth. An accomplished digital leader with a track record of regeneration of traditional business models.
Before joining TUK (O2), David spent 12 years in ICT at C&W Global and Cramer where he held roles in the UK and across Europe.
Outside of work David has 2 children, keeps fit and enjoys flying aerobatics.
