Oliver Pawle

Chairman, Korn/Ferry Whitehead Mann

Oliver Pawle stepped down as Vice Chairman of the Investment Banking Division of UBS in April 2007. He is a well known figure in the City, and exceptionally well connected with the UK’s most senior board community.

Oliver’s principal base is at Korn Ferry / Whitehead Mann where he chairs the Board Practice. He has led many major searches, including those for the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, the Chair and Members of the Court of the Bank of England and the Chairman and Members of the Board of RBS.

He is chairman of the board of Financial Dynamics, a leading international business and financial communications consultancy and also sits on the Advisory Board of Delancey Real Estate Asset Management.

Oliver is a governor of Goodenough College,and is on the National Theatre Development Council.

An economics graduate, Oliver qualified as an ACA with PWC, moving into corporate finance with Barings in London and New York. He joined County NatWest in 1980, responsible for developing their investment banking business in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

He joined UBS Phillips & Drew in 1986, becoming a Managing Director in 1992 and Head of Corporate Broking in 1993. Following the merger of UBS and SBC Warburg in 1997, he was appointed Chairman of Corporate Broking for the new firm and Vice Chairman of Investment Banking in 2003.

Oliver has been involved in many of the largest transactions in the UK and European markets, including flotations, equity financings, mergers, acquisitions and restructurings for major corporations. He has been an adviser to a number of companies including Royal Bank of Scotland, Vodafone, British Airports Authority, British Land, Alliance Boots, Adidas and Forte.
