Penny Weatherup

With a business background in hospitality and financial services, Penny Weatherup took her first steps in HR in 1998. She has spent the last twenty years on a mission to help organisations put people at the centre of their success, developing rich experience in roles covering every aspect of the discipline.

In 2016, she was appointed Human Resources Director at Volkswagen Group UK. Part of the senior leadership team, she sees her primary responsibility as ensuring the business has the right tools and capabilities to attract, develop and retain the best people to deliver the company’s strategic ambitions.

Penny is a qualified coach, a skill she has used extensively to drive personal development and career conversations with employees and leaders alike.

Penny’s participation has been made possible through Speakers for Schools partnership with the UK Automotive 30% Club and her school talks will include a focus on inspiring girls to consider opportunities in the automotive sector and encouraging all students to aim high.
