CEO, National Readership Survey
I went to Saint Chad’s RC Comprehensive School in Runcorn, Cheshire. From there I went on to London University in 1985 to study my lifelong passion, History. After gaining a 2:1, I drove a van, whilst studying for an MA in Politics at the Institute of United States Studies. My first job was working in the media department of Lovell and Rupert Curtis, one of the oldest ad agencies in the country – it went bust 9 months after I joined! Over the last 25 years I have worked in board director positions in both advertising agencies like Carat and Starcom Mediavest and in the commercial departments of media owners like Classic FM and News International. For the last seven years I have been MD of the Radio Advertising Bureau, leading the marketing effforts of the UK commercial radio industry. In June I will be taking up the post of CEO of the National Readership Survey. Outside of work I am an avid (but frustrated) fan of the blues of Everton FC, and a member of the reds of the Labour Party. I enjoy walking and cycling which helps counterbalance my other loves, of food and drink. I am married to Jessie and have 3 children, Grace 11, Delphine 9 and Tom 3.
