Soumaya Keynes

Economics Correspondent at The Economist

I cover economics and trade for The Economist magazine. It would be tricky to get much more economics into my job title. I write about things varying from Donald Trump’s trade policy to feminist economics, minimum wages to externalities, and even occasional satirical pieces on dating for economists… I have a weekly podcast on trade and economics with Chad Bown at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, where we chat about the economics of trade policy in a (hopefully) fun way. Before joining The Economist I worked at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, where I analysed pensions and the public finances in the UK. I also did a stint at HM Treasury, where I advised the government on banking and credit policy. I studied economics at the University of Cambridge.
