Steve Brookman

Steve is very successful Senior Executive with a track record of building and leading major technology businesses around the World. He was born in Sri Lanka to parents who were in the RAF, and moved to the UK before the family took advantage of the ‘£10 Pom scheme’ and immigrated to Australia. After returning to the UK, the family moved into a Council house in Bristol where Steve attended a secondary modern school, achieving modest GCE results. He took up an apprenticeship with Rolls Royce Aero Engines in Bristol, but decided after a year that the RAF held a greater attraction, and enlisted as an Air Traffic Control Assistant serving 13 years including time in the Middle East and Central America.
On leaving the RAF, he had to start a new career. The IT technology sector was in its infancy and it was to this sector that Steve targeted he talents. Steve now has a track record as an International CEO, MD, and Interim Executive, of leading companies to successfully implement International Business Improvement & Growth programmes. Steve has operated as a Director for some major companies including BT and Vodafone, with a track record of consistently providing inspirational leadership to organizations in excess of 10,000 employees. One of his most challenging roles was to take the Nigerian Telephone Company, Nitel, and as CEO, take it from Government ownership and privatize it.
He is as a hands on leader gaining experience in nearly 100 countries including living in Sharjah (near Dubai), Belize, Paris, Sao Paulo (Brazil), Hong Kong, Cairo, and Abuja and Lagos (Nigeria). In addition, he has operated at the most Senior International Government and Diplomatic areas in a number of countries.
Steve is very happily married and has 4 children from 2 marriages. He enjoys keeping fit, travelling, skiing and sailing, and was a very successful sportsman in his youth where he was a Championship boxer (South of England Champion), a first class rugby player and county standard swimmer and athlete. Steve has a very simple philosophy that ‘life should be fun’.
