Tamara Finkelstein was Chief Operating Officer at UK Department of Health. Prior to this she was the Director of Public Services at HM Treasury responsible for spending on public services including the NHS, schools, local government and housing.
Most of her career has been at the Treasury in a range of roles including tax policy, debt management and as speechwriter and private secretary to Gordon Brown as Chancellor.
She has also worked in other parts of government including as Deputy Head of Sure Start, the government’s early years programme and managing a major change programme at the UK Border Agency (UKBA) as well as leading the team supporting John Hutton in recommending reforms to public sector pensions.
Tamara lives in London with her husband and three young children and among other activities is trustee of a secondary school.
