From Challenging the Status Quo to Life Lessons – Talks from Baroness Goudie and Ed Petrie

15 December 2015

As the year closes, we wanted to share the articles written by two schools about the speakers they recently had visit their schools.

Baroness Goudie was very keen to speak to the all male audience at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School to articulate the idea of gender equality in the workplace and focussed specifically on the lack of women on boards of directors. She discussed how the 30% Club, of which she is a founding member, had brought the number of women on FTSE-100 boards from 12.5% to 26.1%. She believes her current part in the ‘Speakers for Schools’ program is key to boosting this figure further, as the key to future success is to ensure the next generation have a more enlightened perspective.

Ed Petrie talking to students from Milestone Academy

As part of our commitment to working with students throughout state education in Britain Speakers for Schools always seeks to find ways to include all students.

Recently we were thrilled to have the excellent Ed Petrie, best known to many students from Ed and Oucho’s Excellent Inventions on CBBC, visit Milestone Academy in Kent who are a Special Education Needs all-through school.

To read more about Ed’s talk visit the Milestone Academy website.

We would like to thank Baroness Goudie, Ed Petrie, Dr Challoner’s Grammar School and Milestone Academy for making these incredible events happen!
