Biography

A passionate supporter of business and the rural economy. A chartered surveyor that now leads Scotland’s largest land based charity promoting the best of Food, Farming and Rural life. RHASS delivers the World Famous Royal Highland Show every year and is responsible for the Royal Highland Educations Trust – who bring the countryside to life for Scotland’s young people. Alan is an engaging and enthusiast speaker on all aspects of rural life having had a wide ranging career as a surveyor, bank manager, head of property and now leading a large charity. Alan has been a director in the Oxford Farming Conference and is an advisor to Government in rural matters – all by the age of 40.

Schools wasn’t Alan’s natural habitat, but he has flourished after finding a sector he loves and is deeply passionate about growing and supporting for the benefit of future generations.
