Alex Marsh is a multi-award winning entrepreneur and business leader, most recently the recipient of Best New Business Launch at the Corporate Entrepreneur Awards 2016. Alex is the Managing Director of Close Brothers Retail Finance, a consumer finance digital start-up business that helps specialist UK retailers unlock growth. Alex joined Close Brothers Group, a FTSE 250 merchant bank, in 2009 after 6 years with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in London and Sydney. Following roles as the Head of Strategic Analysis and Programme Director in the Banking Division of Close Brothers Group, Alex took on the role of Chief Operating Officer, Premium Finance in 2013. In May 2016, Alex progressed to his current role as Managing Director, Retail Finance.
Alex is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds an MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, having attended comprehensive schools in his home town of Brighton. As an experienced keynote and motivational speaker, he has presented and moderated at a number of industry events and educational institutions on a wide range of topics.
Alex is passionate about encouraging education and development for young people, acting as a Governor for a comprehensive secondary school in Brighton, with specific responsibility for Finance, and volunteers for a number of charities that support education. He also enjoys long-distance running, having participated in a large number of races and events across the globe and recently led a team from Close Brothers Group to complete a 100km ultra-marathon for charity.
