Biography

Alistair Smith is editor of The Stage, the world’s longest-standing theatre publication. Having studied English at the University of York, he joined the publication on staff in 2004 as a trainee reporter. Since then, he has also held the roles news editor, opinion editor, deputy editor and print editor at The Stage and has written for other publications ranging from The Guardian to Hello! Magazine. A regular commentator on theatre on radio and TV, he has appeared on BBC1, Sky News and BBC Radio 4. He is also the author of two major industry reports (the London Theatre Report and the Theatre Workforce Review) and a founder of the My Theatre Matters! campaign.
