Biography

Barry McIlheney has been Chief Executive of the PPA since 2010. In this role he leads and serves the UK magazine industry, representing more than 200 different publishing companies of all shapes and sizes. He is the former Editor of Smash Hits and Empire, and was Publisher of titles such as Q, The Face, Mojo, Elle, and FHM. He was recently given the Lifetime Achievement Award in his native Ireland for his contribution to the magazine industry over the last 40 years. Born in Belfast, he is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and London’s City University School of Journalism.
