Biography

A career soldier with 32 years in the Royal Marines. Extensive operational and world wide experience, most recently in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Most recent operational appointment was directly in support of the Afghanistan Peace and Reconciliation Process. Also served several times in the Ministry of Defence and most recently was at the centre of the Defence and Security review. Also a keen sportsman and endurance kayak racer, having completed the Devizes to Westminster canoe race 3 times, and the Yukon river quest, at 760km the longest recognised kayak race in the world. Happily married with 2 grown up daughters.
