Geoff Mulgan is Chief Executive of Nesta. Until June 2011 he was Chief Executive of the Young Foundation, one of the world’s leading centres for social innovation, social enterprise and public policy based in London, responsible for creating dozens of new schools and healthcare organisations, as well as household names like the Open University and Which.
Between 1997 and 2004 Geoff had various roles in the UK government including director of the Government’s Strategy Unit and head of policy in the Prime Minister’s office. He’s been an adviser to several Prime Ministers around the world, and many governments. He is a visiting professor at London School of Economics, University College London, Melbourne University and is a regular lecturer at the China Executive Leadership Academy. Recent books include The Art of Public Strategy: mobilising power and knowledge for the common good’ (Oxford University Press, 2009) and Good and Bad Power: the ideals and betrayals of government (Penguin, 2006).
