Jane Martinson

Professor of Financial Journalism at City University & Guardian Columnist

I was appointed the Guardian’s women’s editor in November 2010, writing on and commissioning articles on a wide range of women’s issues. Prior to this I was the the media editor of The Guardian, where my main responsibility was the media section as well as media news. I joined the Guardian in May 1999 as US business correspondent based in New York. During my time at the paper I have also been associate city editor, writing a weekly interview.

I attended George Greens comprehensive school in London’s east End before going on to read English at Cambridge and attending City University’s journalism school. My first full time job was at the South Wales Echo in Cardiff.
