Julia Muir has worked for over 20 years in the European Automotive Industry. Whilst studying for her Business Studies degree, she worked in her placement year as a Graduate Trainee in a UK dealer group, and developed a passion for all things automotive. She has worked for both automotive retailers and manufacturers, and after completing a Pg Dip in HR, went on to hold positions in Quality, HR, Training, Sales, Advertising, Marketing, and Brand Management. Such positions included the Ford of Europe Advertising Manager, and Ford of Europe Brand Manager for Fiesta. She has worked in the UK, Germany and Spain. Whilst working for Ford of Britain in the 1990’s she helped to establish the UK’s first Automotive Management BSc at Loughborough University Business School. This grew to become the Centre for Automotive Management, and now in addition delivers a number of MSc programmes which Julia lectures on. She also provides consultancy to businesses in the areas of leadership and customer loyalty. Julia is a passionate believer in taking action to improve social mobility, and encouraging young people from similar backgrounds to her own to aim high. She believes the automotive industry provides fabulous career and salary opportunities for driven, determined and conscientious people. She is particularly keen to encourage women to pursue careers in all aspects of the automotive business. Julia also won the Mary Lou Carrington Award from the Worshipful Company of Educators in 2016.
