Biography

Joined Clifford Chance 1983. BA Business Law-1979; Law Society Finals (hons) 1980; qualified in 1982. Worked in Bahrain from 1985 to 1988. Became partner in the Finance and Capital Markets Group in London in 1990 and has been Senior Partner since 1 January 2011. Specialises in restructurings, leveraged financings, telecom projects, syndicated loans and acquisition finance. Major deals include drafting the first loan ever denominated in euros (euro 6bn for GEC/Marconi); acting for the banks financing Philip Green’s unsuccessful bid for M&S; and the restructuring of Cemex’s $16bn of financial debt. Lives in Notting Hill and married with 3 children. Interests are sun, sea, sand and surf at his home in Spain.
