Professor of Economics, Warwick University
I am Professor of Economics at Warwick University and co-founder of Public Economics UK (PEUK), a consortium of UK based researchers and policymakers based in the UK. I have a deep and longstanding interest in public policy and am motivated by fundamental questions about the nature and roles of governments and institutions. My research is mainly applied theory but I’ve been learning about empirical work. The areas that are of interest to me include: the economics of charities; social networks; provision of public goods; international and interjurisdictional fiscal competition; the relationship between tax structure and jurisdiction formation; and most recently, economics and the digital economy.
I am an elected member of the Royal Economic Society council and a mentor for the Royal Economic Society’s Women’s Committee. I have served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Public Economics and Fiscal Studies, and am currently serving on the editorial board of International Tax and Public Finance. I’ve also served on the scientific committees for conferences such as the IIPF 2004, 2007, and 2012, and I have been a Programme Committee member for the Royal Economic Society annual conference (from 2000-2003 and currently from 2010-2013).
