Professor of Social Work
Michael is Professor of Social Work and Faculty Dean at the University of Bedfordshire as well as a qualified social worker with experience of child and adult protection, mental health and family therapy practice.
An academic since 1988 with an international reputation for research and publications in the fields of law and ethics in social work education and social work practice, working with families and groups, and evaluating the outcomes of social work education and practice. He is currently an Independent Chair of a Local Safeguarding Children Board and a Safeguarding Adult Board, bringing immediate experience of management and leadership in health and social care together with research and teaching. Recently completed research for the Department of Health on adult safeguarding and for the Social Care Institute for Excellence on elearning.
