Professor Stewart Purvis

Author and broadcaster

Biography

Stewart Purvis has seen all sides of the UK media – as a BBC trainee, a BAFTA winning news producer, newspaper columnist, CEO of a £100m a year TV company, Ofcom regulator, Oxford professor, Government adviser on media and now an author, broadcaster and documentary maker in his own right. Currently a board member at Channel Four and an expert on Russian espionage. His career illustrates how with a solid training in one skill-in his case news journalism- can create lots of different opportunities in related jobs and how a hobby -in his case researching spies – can be made into a job too.
