Journalist, Mail on Sunday
I’ve been writing for national newspapers since the age of 23. Started at the FT as a grad trainee. Moved to the BBC after five years and tried to be a broadcaster on Radio Four. Did a year as a policy planner in the Foreign Office but found the pace a bit slow and the diplomats a bit clever. After having babies went freelance. Have written from Brussels and Washington, D.C, but been back writing columns for the nationals since 2001. Took over the Lady magazine in 2009 and revamped it, the subject of an infamous C4 TV doc. Bombed on Have I Got News for You (people tweeted, “unfunny sister, Boris in a wig” etc. Have written three novels and two volumes of diaries, all published by Penguin. Also do stuff for the Big Issue. Have three teenage children and a dog.
