Robert Swannell

Biography

Robert is Chairman of UK Government Investments and was Chairman of Marks and Spencer from Jan 2011-Sept 2017. He spent over 30 years in investment banking with Schroders/Citigroup and was formerly Vice-Chairman of Citi Europe and Chairman of Citi’s European Investment Bank. Prior roles include being senior independent director of The British Land Company PLC and of 3i Group PLC, Chairman of HMV Group PLC, Chairman of Governors of Rugby School, a trustee of Career Ready and an Advisory Board Member of The Sutton Trust. Robert is a member of the Takeover Panel Appeal Board and a Director of the Investor Forum. He is a founder and Trustee of SpringBoard Boarding Bursary Foundation, a Trustee of Teach First and a visiting Fellow at Said Business School, Oxford.
