Ruby Mulraine has launched a national digital radio station (BBC Radio 1Xtra), broken a Guinness World Record, and worked with some of the biggest artist and presenter talent in the entertainment industry. She is an award winning Executive Producer, youth media and music specialist with 20 years experience in the industry, this includes 15 years at the BBC.
Ruby has worked for youth media brands such as Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra. She has also worked in the Film and TV industry across drama, documentaries and film for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
She has produced iconic radio shows such as the UK Top 40 and The Evening Session for Radio 1. As the launch producer of BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2002, Ruby helped lay the blueprint for what has now become a pioneering digital radio station in the media industry.
A creative strategist of big ideas she led 1Xtra to a fun DJ Relay Guinness World Record victory in 2010. Her work has taken her to Japan, the U.S, Jamaica, Trinidad, Nigeria, Kenya and across Europe where she has led large scale event and programme campaigns and media consultancy projects.
Ruby is a respected industry professional. In demand as an entertainment judge she has advised for the Mobo, The Brits and The Radio Academy Awards. She is also a board advisor for “Diaspora” a not for profit organisation campaigning for greater BAME diversity in the music industry.
Ruby is now the Director of the production company and music consultancy Black Canteen, producing documentaries for mainstream radio, TV, short film, branded digital content, and consulting music artists in the industry.
