Contemporary Art Dealer
Sadie Coles HQ is a contemporary art gallery in central London that opened in April 1997. The gallery focuses on presenting the work of established and emerging international artists and currently represents over thirty living artists and two estates. The gallery currently operates three exhibition spaces in Mayfair and the West End, publishes catalogues and books on their artists, does around six international art fairs a year including London’s frieze art fair, and runs a programme of pop-up/off-site projects in a variety of locations throughout London. The original Sadie Coles HQ’s inaugural exhibition of new paintings by American painter John Currin in 1997 was mounted in parallel to a show of works by British artist Sarah Lucas, The Law.
Sadie Coles studied Art History/Film Theory at Middlesex and then worked as Exhibitions Director at Anthony d’Offay Gallery until leaving to open her own gallery in 1997.
