Director of Organ Donation and Transplantation, NHS Blood and Transplant
Sally joined the NHS in 1990 after working initially in the private sector. She has widespread experience in primary care, service commissioning and organisational development. She spent six years as Chief Executive of a Primary Care Trust, commissioning hospital services and providing community and primary care services for a population of 342,000. In September 2008 she joined NHS Blood and Transplant as Director of Organ Donation and Transplantation to deliver the recommendations of the Organ Donor Taskforce. She was awarded the OBE in the recent Queen’s Honours List for her services to organ donation and transplantation and will take on the role of interim Chief Executive of NHS Blood and Transplant from 1 August this year.
