Sara Luder

Head of Tax, Slaughter and May

Biography

Slaughter and May is one of the “magic circle” law firms and I head the tax department. We advise our clients on some of the largest and most complex corporate transactions, including mergers and financings. The tax department advises our largely corporate clients on the tax aspects of these transactions, as well as on tax planning and tax disputes.
As a partnership we are all co owners of the business, and so our managment structure is flat – partners develop their own practices under the partnership umbrella. I have sat on all the various management committees, but managment tends to be with a light touch.
I am passionate about diversity and formed the firm’s parenting network and its women’s network, and also helped set up its female leadership development programme.
I have been a primary school governor and am currently a trustee of School Home Support, and charity that works with schools to overcome barriers to education, improving engagement in learning and attendance.
I also swim competitively. I do compete in the pool, but my real passion is long distance open water swimming.
