Biography

Sebastian Payne is digital comment editor of the Financial Times. In this role, he writes frequently about British politics, as well as overseeing the paper’s online comment content. He also presents the FT Politics podcast and pops up on BBC and Sky News. He was previously an editor at The Spectator magazine and a reporter at The Daily Telegraph. In 2014, he was the 35th Lawrence Stern fellow at the Washington Post, reporting the U.S. midterm elections. He graduated from Durham University in 2010 with a BSc in Computer Science and an MA in Investigative Journalism from City University London. He is from Gateshead and lives in North London.
