Biography

Sir John Parker is Chairman of the Water and Energy Recovery Group Pennon plc (2015), Chairman of Laing O’Rourke Group (2017) and Non-Executive Director of Carnival Corporation (2003). He is a Senior Advisor to Spencer Stuart (2017). He has chaired 5 FTSE 100 companies and stepped down as Chairman of Anglo American plc (2009-2017) and as a Non-Executive Director of the Board of Airbus (2007-2018).

He chaired the review for Government on Ethnic Diversity on UK Boards (2017) and completed ‘A Review of UK Naval Shipbuilding Strategy for MOD’ (2016).

He was Vice Chairman of DP World (Dubai) (2006-2015), President of the Royal Academy of Engineering (2011- 2014), and a Member of the Prime Ministers Committee of Science & Technology (CST)(2011-2014) and a Member of Davies Committee – Women on Boards.

He was formerly Chairman of National Grid plc (2002 to 2011) and Chair of the Court of the Bank of England (2004-2009), Joint Chairman of Mondi plc (2007-2009), Chair of the BAe – Vosper Shipbuilding Joint Venture (2008-9), a Member of the Prime Minister’s Business Council for Britain (2007-2010) and Chancellor of University of Southampton (2006 – 2011).
