Biography

A journalist for forty years on several national newspapers including the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Today, The Observer and more recently The Daily Telegraph where I was head of news and then managing editor. I currently manage Associated Newspaper’s editorial trainee scheme for both print and Online, interviewing around 200 graduates every year for the posts of news reporters, sub editors and feature writers. I am the founder and director of the Henley Literary Festival, an annual event with around 150 events in which we have speakers from across all subjects – sport, history, fiction, humour, theatre. I am also a travel writer, a school governor, chair of the Journalists’ Charity and a board member of the Society of Editors and London Press Club
