Assistant Editor, Scottish Daily Mail
I was an avid reader of newspapers as a teenager, often to the detriment of completing my homework, so my parents encouraged me to spend an afternoon at my local paper, the Nottingham Evening Post. I went back for a week, which became 10 weeks, and then again the next summer. That experience got me a place on the City University post-graduate newspaper course, which got me my first job – on a free-sheet. A job on a big city evening paper followed, then shifts on the Daily Mail in London. I have been with the Mail ever since, in London, Manchester and Glasgow. News and newspapers have shaped my adult life.
